The Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court has denied bail to Tiffany Meek, who stands accused of murdering her 11‑year‑old son, Jayden‑Lee Meek. The court’s decision followed a hearing that revealed damning forensic evidence and contradictions in Meek’s version of events.

Serious Charges and Forensic Evidence

Tiffany Meek, 31, faces multiple charges, including murder, crimen injuria, and obstructing justice. Prosecutors say she used a blunt object to fatally injure her son inside their Fleurhof apartment.

Forensic investigators linked blood found on Jayden-Lee’s bed, school uniform, books, and bag directly to him. The State argues this proves the murder took place inside the home and contradicts Meek’s claims.

Disputed Timeline and Testimony

In her affidavit, Meek said her son went missing around 16:45 on 13 May after scholar transport dropped him off. She claimed that police refused to search her housing complex without a warrant and that she only found out about his death after 14 May at around 06:00. Tiffany Meek maintained her innocence, stating that she is being framed.

But Sergeant Nceba Diko, the investigating officer, challenged her version. He testified that Meek reported Jayden-Lee missing at 20:00, helped with initial searches, and later returned to her apartment alone.

A security guard also testified that Meek left her unit just before the child’s body, wearing only underwear, was found on a staircase. The post-mortem revealed multiple injuries, including trauma to the head, neck, and limbs, with no defensive wounds.

State Argues High Risk if Released

The State argued against bail again, stating that Tiffany Meek poses a flight risk and could tamper with evidence or intimidate witnesses. Her employer placed her on leave, and her lawyer raised concerns about monitoring her if she moves to KwaZulu-Natal.

Public outrage continues to build in Fleurhof and throughout Gauteng. Many residents say Tiffany Meek’s denied bail outcome reflects broader concerns about justice and child protection.

Next Steps in the Case

The court will resume proceedings soon, as the case against Tiffany Meek unfolds. The community remains outraged by Jayden-Lee’s death, with many questioning systemic failures and demanding greater accountability in child protection cases.
