A disturbing video has gone viral on social media, showing a woman urinating between seats on a Golden Arrow bus in Cape Town. The footage, captured by commuter Stanton Bill, depicts the woman kneeling down while other passengers watch in discomfort. Bill shared the clip online, highlighting the disruptive behaviour of several apparently intoxicated women on board.
According to reports from the Cape Argus and IOL, Bill described the scene as disrespectful. He noted that the women consumed alcohol, exposed their private parts to passengers, including elderly women, and engaged in swearing and dancing. The incident violated basic norms of public transport etiquette.
Company Policies and Passenger Expectations
Golden Arrow Bus Services has strict rules outlined in its Conditions of Carriage. These prohibit actions that compromise passenger safety or comfort, such as drinking alcohol on board, excessive intoxication, or disruptive conduct. The company emphasises that such behaviour does not align with its standards for commuters.
Spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer stated that bus drivers focus primarily on safe driving and may not always notice incidents behind them. In this case, the driver remained unaware of the events. She encouraged passengers to report violations promptly, allowing drivers to contact the control room or involve law enforcement if needed. Golden Arrow reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all users.
Responses from Involved Parties
Golden Arrow Bus Services quickly condemned the Golden Arrow bus urination video, calling the actions “completely unacceptable.” Dyke-Beyer reiterated the company’s position in a statement, urging better passenger conduct.
Stanton Bill, who recorded and shared the video, did not respond to requests for further comment from media outlets, including the Daily Voice. No additional statements from other commuters or the women involved have been reported.
