The trial of the Mpumalanga farmer, who allegedly lured women to pigs using false promises, continues to reveal chilling details. Survivors have testified about how they were trapped, abused, and threatened, highlighting the calculated nature of the crimes.
Survivors Explain How the Farmer Lured Women to Pigs
According to testimony, the accused offered victims jobs or transport, convincing them to come to his rural farm. However, once they arrived, he allegedly imprisoned and assaulted them. One survivor described how he warned her she would be killed and fed to pigs, if she tried to escape.
Her escape, and subsequent report to local residents, prompted a swift police response. Officers rescued a second woman and discovered human remains on the property.
Trial Reveals Pattern of Deceit and Violence
Investigators now believe the suspect may have used the same method to lure multiple women to his farm. Evidence found during the search—including personal belongings—suggests that there could be more victims.
Although the accused has denied all charges, the court heard disturbing testimony describing the physical and psychological abuse experienced by the survivors.
South Africans Demand Action
The case has triggered nationwide outrage. Many South Africans have expressed frustration over ongoing gender-based violence. Human rights groups continue to demand more robust protection for vulnerable women, especially in rural areas.
As the trial progresses in Mbombela, authorities are following new leads and have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests or charges.
