Observed annually on July 22, World Brain Day is a global awareness campaign. It focuses on promoting brain health and supporting those affected by neurological conditions.
Founded by the World Federation of Neurology, the day encourages education and action around brain-related issues. These range from stroke and epilepsy to Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s.
Focus on Prevention and Mental Wellbeing
The campaign also highlights the importance of early diagnosis, access to care, and reducing stigma surrounding mental and neurological health. In recent years, the initiative has included calls for better support systems, particularly in low-resource communities.
Brain Health is Everyone’s Responsibility
On this day, health professionals and communities alike are encouraged to prioritise good sleep, healthy diets, and regular exercise. Mental health care should also be prioritised. It’s also a chance to reflect on how we can build a more brain-friendly society through education and support.
Think smart — and act early.
